July 9, 2020 Parish Update

Posted on Jul 9, 2020 in Church News, Home Page Announcements

This (Tuesday) morning on the walk the mayor talked about his upcoming road trip at the end of the week.  There will have to be a few mornings I walk alone.  We have talked in the past how it helps to have a “walking mate.”  On those cold mornings in January when you’d rather stay in bed you get up because someone is waiting to walk with you.  On those warm muggy mornings in July when you’d rather stay in the air conditioning, you get yourself up and out of bed because someone is waiting to walk with you.  A walking mate strengthens your resolve and helps you become...

July 2, 2020 Parish Update

This (Tuesday) morning on the walk the air was thick.  The mayor spent a great deal of time swatting away bugs.  For some reason he draws a lot more than I ever do.  Am not sure why.  We talked about the flooding yesterday.  A woman the mayor works with had her home flooded.  She called the mayor at work for help.  He managed to round up a couple of trailers and places to park them so she could empty out her house.  I’m always amazed at how the people of Prescott can manage to bring out the best in each other.  It really is a good thing, a...

June 25, 2020 Parish Update

I’ve been walking most mornings with mayor for about six years.  The mayor as most of you know is something of a talker.  I can go quite a while without saying anything.  You’d think after all this time and all the talking the mayor has done over the years that he would not say anything that would surprise me.  He did this morning.  As we were passing a house on the morning walk route I pointed out a mailbox that had clematis flowing over its top.  The mayor said, “I really like it when mailboxes are covered in flowers.”  Who would have guessed the mayor...

2019-2020 Annual Appeal

Posted on Jun 23, 2020 in Church News, Home Page Announcements

Parishioners, We are getting down to the wire for meeting our Annual Appeal Goal.  As of today, 6/18/2020 we are $1783.80 short.  I know the last few months have been difficult for everyone.   With no live masses for over three months, we have not been able to see many of the familiar faces we see each week attending mass.  Unfortunately, many of our expenses still remain.  I ask if you are able to contribute any amount to the Annual Appeal it would be helpful.  We do need your contribution to the parish office by 6/24/2020. Thanks for considering this...

June 18, 2020 Parish Update

The mayor and I got back from the morning walk about 8 minutes earlier than usual.  Actually, the start time of the walk has been creeping up as the days have gotten longer.  The mayor and I both agree that walking after the sun or as the sun is coming up is preferable to long, dark, winter walks.  The longest day of the year happens this week.  From here on out the days will get shorter. Just yesterday morning the mayor noted that the longest day was coming.  He said, “The longest day of the year is coming and you haven’t started complaining yet about winter...
