3-31-2020 St Joseph Parish update

Posted on Mar 31, 2020

Sisters and Brothers, Parishioners of St. Joseph in Prescott:
I continue to pray for each of you as our isolation continues. Some of my friends in health care are cautiously optimistic this morning that the dreadful loss of lives we are witnessing in New York will not affect Wisconsin. Again, they are cautiously optimistic.
I will post another homily for this coming Sunday, Palm/Passion Sunday on Thursday. I’d encourage you to read the readings, read the homily and spend some time in quiet prayer on Sunday. We continue to pay our staff and have pledged to do so through April. After that we cannot guarantee that we will have the funds to pay our hourly staff and may have to lay them off. Hopefully, we will not need to do that. I leave you today with this quotation from II Corinthians.

Praise be to the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of compassion and the God of all comfort, who comforts us in all our troubles, so that we can comfort those in any trouble with the comfort we ourselves receive from God. For just as we share abundantly in the sufferings of Christ, so also our comfort abounds through Christ. If we are distressed, it is for your comfort and salvation; if we are comforted, it is for your comfort, which produces in you patient endurance of the same sufferings we suffer. And our hope for you is firm, because we know that just as you share in our sufferings, so also you share in our comfort.

  • 2 Corinthians:3-7
